Season II Semifinals & Finals: September 18th @ 1pm PT

Welcome to MTGO Masters Season 2!

Each season, hosts Anuraag Das and Will Hall bring together 16 of the most amazing Magic personalities to battle it out over the course of 12 action-packed weeks of Modern Constructed. Season II features all things Modern Horizons 3, from the spikiest tournament builds to the craziest innovative brews.

To prevent repetitive gameplay, players must change at least forty cards in their deck from week to week. In addition, the first six weeks feature deckbuilding themes and stipulations to guide players in their creative adventures.

Tournament Structure

The 12-week tournament breaks down into three rounds followed by a Top 8 cut, with each round following the adage “Win two before you lose two.” For example, win two matches before you lose two matches in your pod to win the pod. Win two rounds before you lose two rounds to make Top 8.

Easy? Easy!

Round 1 Intro Pods (Weeks 1-4): Our sixteen players are divided into four pods of four, played one week at a time. First and second place advance to the Winners’ Pods, while third and fourth move to the Losers’ Pods.

Round 2 Winners’ Pods (Weeks 5 & 6): The eight Round 1 winners divide into two pods of four and battle for Top 8 slots. First and second place in each pod advance to Top 8, while third and fourth move to the Round 3’s Last Chance Qualifiers (LCQs).

Round 2 Losers’ Pods (Weeks 7 & 8): The eight Round 1 losers divide into two pods of four and battle for survival! First and second place narrowly advance to Round 3’s LCQs, but for third and fourth place the show ends with elimination.

Round 3 Last Chance Qualifiers (Weeks 9 & 10): The eight remaining players not queued for Top 8 now separate into two pods of four, with the winners of each pod finalizing the Top 8 and the losers facing elimination.

Top 8 (Weeks 10 & 11): The final phase of the tournament is a standard single elimination Top 8 bracket. In the first week, all eight Top 8 players duke it out in the quarterfinals, with the winners playing out the semis and finals the following week. After all is said and done, we crown our MTGO Masters Season 2 Champion!
