MTGO Creator Season Continues!

For the first time, we’re letting a handful of MTGO’s Creator Program members curate and inspire some unique event experiences. Magic Online’s Creator Season is halfway complete and runs until December 18!

AspiringSpike’s Modern Madness – Nov 27-Dec 1

Another one of our Creator Program’s most prolific broadcasters, AspiringSpike, will be hosting a cornucopia of Modern play over the long holiday weekend in the U.S.

We’ll have All-Access available again starting tomorrow, November 27 at 10 a.m. PT that will last until Monday, December 2 at 10 a.m. PT – up to 5 days of access for just $15 USD using the Emerald Entry Token!

Then on Sunday, December 1^st at 7 a.m. PT, it’s the big Modern Madness tournament! This one-day event will feature the same prize table as our other big events, but top finishers in this one will get AspiringSpike’s favorite art as an avatar – Jade Avenger - with the Top 8 getting a fancier version!

Entry options for this event are 40 Event Tickets or 400 Play Points.

Birds of Paradise Standard Spectacular – December 2-8

Birds of Paradise – iconic Magic card ... Birds of Paradise – iconic Magic group!

NileJoanRivers, the host of MTGO Discovery Zone and the Birds’ Head of Competitive Play, presents a week-long festival of Standard play leading up to a Sunday finals – win your way in or pay to play.

We’ll have All-Access available again starting Tuesday, December 3 at 10 a.m. PT that will last until Monday, December 9 at 10 a.m. PT – up to 6 more days of access for just $20 USD using the Jet Event Token!

The formula we used for Legacy will be in place again for Standard during this time frame – starting at 8 a.m. Monday, December 2^nd, complete any one of these achievements to earn a Standard Point:

• 5-0 a Standard League course (including the Standard Mini-League December 4-6)
• 4-0 or 3-1 a Standard Preliminary
• Top 8 a Standard Challenge

Then on Sunday, December 8^th at 7 a.m. PT, it’s the big Standard Spectacular finale! This tournament will feature the same prize table as our other big events, except that it will pay out Standard digital sets instead of Modern ones. Top finishers in this event will get an event-exclusive Birds of Paradise avatar.

Like our Legacy event last month, you can also choose the pay-to-play method for the Spectacular by buying a second Jet Event Token and spending both as your entry option!

Corey Baumeister’s Duel Commander Week – December 9-13

Capping off the Creator Season weekly events is one of the voices of professional Magic, Pro Tour caster Corey Baumeister!

The theme of this week is Duel Commander, and Corey’s cooked up something a bit different ...

We’ll run 8 Duel Commander Trial events Monday-Thursday, December 9-12 – 2 per day. Earn a 5-0 or 4-1 in these events to earn a Constructed Point good for entry into Friday’s Duel Commander Week Finals. Corey’s giving out an event-exclusive Yorion, Sky Nomad avatar at the Finals, so you don’t want to miss out!

And yes, we’re supporting this event with another All-Access period - $15 USD gets you the Pearl Entry Token with Access from Monday morning until the Finals end Friday night.

Duel Commander Trial

Schedule – December 9-12

• Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday – 7:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. PT (15:30 & 22:30 UTC)
• Wednesday due to downtime – 12:30 p.m. and 5:30 pm PT (20:30 Wed & 01:30 Thu UTC)

Entry – 20 Event Tickets or 200 Play Points

Players – 17-64

Format – 5 Swiss Rounds

• 5-0 – 500 Play Points, 5 Treasure Chests, 1 Vintage Point (entry into Friday’s Finals)
• 4-1 – 250 Play Points, 4 Treasure Chests, 1 Vintage Point
• 3-2 – 150 Play Points, 1 Treasure Chest

Duel Commander Week Finals

Schedule – Friday, December 13 at 10:30 a.m. PT (18:30 UTC)

Entry – 1 Vintage Point

Format – Rounds based on attendance with Top 8 Playoff

• 1^st – 500 Play Points and 100 Treasure Chests
• 2^nd – 350 Play Points and 50 Treasure Chests
• 3^rd-4^th – 350 Play Points and 35 Treasure Chests
• 5^th-8^th – 350 Play Points and 20 Treasure Chests
• 9^th-16^th – 250 Play Points and 10 Treasure Chests
• 17^th-32^nd – 150 Play Points
• Top 32 and ties receive the event-exclusive Yorion, Sky Nomad avatar

MTGNerdGirl’s Commander Community Meetup December 15

The last stop on this train of Creator-led fun is on Sunday, December 15 - the third in a series of events where MTGNerdGirl hosts Commander game meetups on the Decked Out Discord channel. Join the Discord to find text and voice channels to arrange friendly Open Play games and wade into MTGO’s 100-card scene.

You also follow the live stream between 1 and 7 p.m. that day where MTGNerdGirl will be doling out Play Point codes and other giveaways – not a bad way to spend a Sunday!

Don’t have the cards yet? We’ll be offering one last short All-Access window so you play with (almost) ALL the cards! Starting Friday, December 13 at 5 p.m. PT (01:00 UTC Saturday), you’ll be able to purchase the Ruby Entry Token for $10 from the MTGO Store. The Access lasts until Monday, December 16 at 5 p.m. PT (01:00 UTC Tuesday).

Midweek Trophy Races – A New Format Every Week!

One new twist on finding out who’s the best in their format will kick off during Creator Season: our Midweek Trophy Race Leagues!

Each week during Creator Season, we’ll offer a League that runs for just 48 hours: entry is available Wednesday 10 a.m. to Friday 10 a.m. PT. (with one common exception). Here’s the format breakdown by week:

To earn an undefeated trophy and a spot on our Leaderboard, you have to complete a 5-0 run through a Mini-League course. At the end of the Mini-League, the Top 15 accounts on the Leaderboard (plus those tied with 15^th place) will receive an untradeable gold-frame version of this year’s Showcase avatars (we’ll announce Duel Commander Week's avatar later).

The Trophy Race Mini-Leagues will run concurrently with the normal version of that format’s League. Mini-Leagues will use a different entry and prize set:

Entry – 8 Event Tickets or 80 Play Points

Prizes

• 5 Wins: 120 Play Points, 10 Treasure Chests, 5 QPs
• 4 Wins: 110 Play Points, 5 Treasure Chests, 2 QPs
• 3 Wins: 100 Play Points, 1 Treasure Chest, 1 QP

All About All-Access

In all, Creator Season will total 31 days of All-Access availability! It’s been almost a year since we last offered All-Access, so let’s bring new folks up to speed on how it works:

First, there are a few different items being sold that grant you a God collection for short bursts - here's the remaining schedule (all times Pacific):

To use All-Access, simply purchase the proper Token in the Store, then build any legal deck in your chosen format. You will likely show negative quantities of cards in the Collection as you drag cards down – this is expected. You can try all Constructed formats with All-Access – not just the one which the Creator event is being played (e.g. Legacy or Commander or Modern).  Alas, All-Access doesn’t apply to Limited events.

Once your deck is built the way you want it, enter an Open Play game or paid event (entry options still required). No cards will be added to your collection, but you'll be able to play even if you don't have all the cards in your collection.

For the Emerald, Pearl, and Ruby Tokens, you’ll only need one during each period. For Jet Tokens, you won’t need more than two – and that’s only if you’re skipping the line to enter the Birds of Paradise event.

We'll remove all of these Tokens from accounts and turn off All-Access at the dates listed above.

Note: In a change from before, if you’re still competing in a Constructed League when access ends, you’ll be allowed to complete that match (not the entire course).

Just like previous All-Access periods, certain cards (Secret Lair versions, TRANSFORMERS, WARHAMMER 40,000, Battlebond, and old-frame Power Nine) are unavailable. Additionally, card variants sold in Bundles (Oil Lands, Retro Shocklands, etc.) are unavailable.
