Magic Online Vintage Cube LIVE – September 9th Update

Hello fans of Vintage Cube LIVE! We are approaching the home stretch of the Magic Online qualifiers and want to give you the final update regarding scheduling and structure. Over 6,000 players have taken their shot in the Feeder League so far! Our team has learned a lot about how to run a high-stakes tournament series during this first iteration, and we appreciate the community’s feedback as we’ve maneuvered through the season.
State of Play – Feeder Leagues
From the outset, we’ve said we will oversell entries in the Feeder League to ensure the 64s fill up each week. This does mean that some players holding Entry Tokens will be left without a seat when the music stops after Week 8. We are aiming for that number to be as low as feasible. Unspent 64-Player Tokens will be exchanged for 120 Play Points after Week 8, so your Feeder League victory won’t go unrewarded if you don’t find a seat!
Over the last four weeks, we’ve averaged about 27 hours of open entry time per Feeder League, and those have each yielded roughly a week’s worth of entries for 64s. Now that we’re down to the last two weeks, we expect the Feeder Leagues to be shorter as we approach our final 64-Player Token target.
Feeder League Schedule
- We will run Feeder Leagues during Week 7 and Week 8 – September 14 & September 21, starting at 9 a.m. PT (16:00 UTC) each day.
- These Leagues are expected to run anywhere from 8 to 18 hours, depending on popularity, because they will be capped at lower levels than Weeks 3-6.
- As usual, we will provide a one-hour warning before closing to new entries on Discord, Twitter/X, and inside the game.
Week 7 Schedule – 64s & Qualifier (Schedule)
This isn’t a change per se, but with a downtime looming on September 18, we previously planned an alternate schedule for posting next week’s 64s:
- 64s on Tuesday, September 17 will be posted at the normal time: Monday 9/16 at 10 a.m. PT (17:00 UTC)
- 64s on Wednesday-Friday, September 18-20 will be posted on that Wednesday, either following downtime or at 12 noon PT (19:00 UTC), whichever is later.
Week 7’s Vegas Qualifier will be held Saturday, September 21 at 9:30 a.m. PT (16:30 UTC).
Week 8 Schedule – 64s & Qualifier (Schedule)
Nothing has changed here either – back to the regular cadence for the final week:
- 64s on Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday, September 24, 26, and 27 will be posted Monday 9/23 at 10 a.m. PT (17:00 UTC)
- 64s on Wednesday, September 25 will be posted Monday 9/23 at 5 p.m. PT (midnight Tuesday UTC)
Summary
- Your final chance to enter a Feeder League will be Saturday, September 21 (possibly continuing into Sunday depending on the cap).
- Your final chance to register for a 64 begins on Monday, September 23.
- The eighth and final competitor in the Ultimate Guard Finals will be determined in the Vegas Qualifier on Saturday, September 28.
