Contingencies
- Replacement 64-Player Drafts: Should a 64-Player Draft fail to fire due to not hitting the minimum number of players, a replacement draft will be scheduled for three hours later. Should a replacement draft fail to fire (with a lowered minimum of 56 players), its replacement will be scheduled for the next day.
- “Alternate” Status for 2nd Place in a 64-Player Draft: Players who lose the finals of a 64-Player Draft will be invited via email to be present online just before that week’s Vegas Qualifier begins. If an invited player invited has not checked in five minutes prior to the Qualifier’s start, an Alternate will be chosen randomly from among those available to replace the invitee.

FAQ
We expect this event to generate some questions we haven’t answered or that warrant more detail. We will be adding frequently asked questions about this event to this section and providing answers as they arise.
Updated August 5 with new structures
Qualifying and Progression
How many games do I need to win to go to Vegas?
- You will need to win 13 matches in a specific sequence to earn your spot at Vegas.
How do I get invited to the Vegas Qualifier?
- First, you must go 4-0 in a single course of the Feeder League. Then, you must go 6-0 in a 64-Player Draft.
Can I sign up for multiple 64-Player Drafts in the same week?
- Yes, if you earned multiple Entry Tokens. See above for restrictions on entering multiple accounts you own into the same 64-Player Draft.
What’s the basic series structure?
- Step 1: Go 4-0 in a Vintage Cube Feeder League course to win an Entry Token.
- Step 2: Spend the Entry Token to enter a 64-Player Event, then go 6-0 (winning 2 straight Cube pods) to earn an invitation to that week’s Vegas Qualifier.
- A 5-1 record (2nd place) gets an Alternate designation to that Qualifier.
- Step 3: Go 3-0 in a Vegas Qualifier event to punch your ticket to the Ultimate Guard Finals at MagicCon: Las Vegas.
Can I continue playing Feeder Leagues to earn Entry Tokens even if I already have one? Or do I need to wait till I’ve played a 64-Player Draft?
- You may continue playing in the Feeder League and earn additional Entry Tokens. Unused Entry Tokens at the end of the series will be exchanged for 120 Play Points each.
Entry and Participation
How many times can I enter the Feeder League?
- You can enter the Feeder League as many times as you like while it’s open, but you may not have multiple accounts you own in the Feeder League simultaneously.
Must I spend my Entry Token in the same Week that I earn it?
- No! The Entry Token can be used in any of the series’ eight weeks.
How many times can I enter the 64-Player Drafts?
- You can enter as many 64-Player Drafts as you have Entry Tokens. However, you may not have multiple accounts you own entered into the same 64-Player Draft.
What happens if I try to use my Entry Token but the event doesn’t fill to 64 players?
- 64-Player Events (and replacement events if required) will wait up to 15 minutes past their scheduled start time to try to reach the minimum amount of players. Should the event self-cancel, you will be refunded your Entry Token to use to enter a future 64-Player Draft or a replacement Draft event.
Are Entry Tokens unlimited or are there only a certain number per day?
- We are estimating the number of Tokens earned based on Feeder League attendance and have an understanding there are only 4,096 spaces available across all 64-Player Drafts over the 8 weeks of the series. We may oversell the League by some amount to ensure that enough players who want to play in each time slot have the chance to do so. It is possible that so many Entry Tokens will have been distributed late in the series that we would not run the final week’s/weeks’ Feeder League.
- We are currently projecting that Week 8 will have no Feeder League, though a final decision will be made the week of September 7th.
What happens to unused Entry Tokens at the end of the series?
- If you have one or more Entry Tokens at the end of the series that are unspent, they will be exchanged by Customer Support for 120 Play Points per Token.
What countries' residents are allowed to participate?
- To participate in the Tournament, you must be at least 18 years of age or the age of legal majority in your jurisdiction of residence, whichever is older, and you must be a resident of one of the following countries or regions: Argentina, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Dominican Republic, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Israel, Italy, Japan, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Mexico, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Puerto Rico, Republic of Korea, Republic of Ireland, Singapore, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan, The Netherlands, United Kingdom, United States of America, and Uruguay. You must also have an active and valid Daybreak MTGO account in good standing.
Costs and Prizes
How much does it cost me to enter the Feeder League?
- Requires 6 Event Tickets or 80 Play Points.
How much does it cost me to enter the 64-Player Draft?
- These can only be entered with the 4-win prize from the Feeder League – the Limited Championship Entry Token.
Do I get any other prizes for playing in the Feeder League or 64-Player Draft?
- Starting with Week 3, the Feeder League provides Play Point prizes for 2- or 3-win finishes.
- There are no prizes in the 64-Player Drafts. Players who get 2nd place in a 64-Player Draft become Alternates to that week’s Vegas Qualifier and can receive 1,000 Play Points for standing by on the day of the Qualifier.
Are the prizes for playing given out after the whole series wraps or after each Qualifier?
- Digital prizes for each Vegas Qualifier will be paid out on its completion, like other events in MTGO.
What happens if I’m not done with my Cube games and that weekend's League ends?
- If you do not finish your League course before that weekend’s League completes on Monday, you'll receive the prize earned to that point. If we announce an early end to a weekend’s Feeder League due to excess demand, we will refund entries of any incomplete courses once the League completes.
Event Scheduling and Availability
I don’t see the 64-Player Draft events – where are they?
- Drafts for Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday will be posted in the client each scheduled Monday at 10 a.m. PT (17:00 UTC).
- Drafts for Wednesday will be posted in the client each scheduled Monday at 5 p.m. PT (midnight Tuesday UTC).
- There is variance during Week 7 (week of September 16) due to downtime, see chart above.
- Starting with Week 3, events that are full will continue to display in the Limited Premier Events play lobby.
How often are the 64-Player Drafts running?
- Every Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday during certain weeks starting July 23.
If the 64’s don’t fire all day will they be extended into other days? Or are those the set days?
- If a 64-Player Draft doesn’t fire, its replacement will be scheduled to start 3 hours later. It will have a reduced minimum of 56 players to fire (but can still take up to 64 if that many register in time). If a replacement 64-Player Draft doesn’t fire, a replacement will be scheduled for the next day in the first replacement window (usually 10:30 a.m. PT or 7:30 p.m. PT). If fewer than eight 64-Player Drafts have not fired by the last replacement window on Friday and that week’s Vegas Qualifier is the next day, Alternates will be selected to fill that Qualifier up to 8 players.
